We group our Violin and Viola ensemble lessons by age rather than skill level, which means we often teach students of varying abilities in the same room. The secret to making this work? Custom arrangements that ensure every single student is challenged and engaged.
One of our students' absolute favorites is our custom arrangement of Paganini's Caprice No. 24. Starting with an intermediate-friendly Theme, it expands into 9 distinct variations—spanning from open-string parts to three-octave arpeggios. We’ve also designed intermediate parts with complex rhythms to sharpen timing skills, and playing different variations together creates an exciting challenge for the whole group.
Update! Due to popular demand, we’ve added viola parts! You can choose the A minor version (to play alongside violins) or the D minor version (if you’re running a viola-only ensemble and want even more Paganini flair).
