I recently re-watched Scent of a Woman (again!) and I couldn't stop thinking how cool it would be to play Gardel's most iconic tango, Por Una Cabeza, with our students. So, here it is! It's been arranged for flexible and mixed-ability Violin Ensemble, that means it works as a Violin Duo, Trio, Quartet and up to 6 violins, and it can be played by beginners and more advanced students all together.
- Violin 1 & 2: the two main parts. Violin 1 goes up to 3rd position, Violin 2 could be only 1st
- Violin 1a: first violin with the dramatic counter-melody in the second time round
- Violin 3: intermediate melody in simple first position
- Violin 4: open strings only in two bowing patterns: up-bow preparation in the major section and down-bow retakes in the minor one
- Violin accompaniment: to accompany Violin 1 (& 2) in the Duo (Trio) version or reinforce the whole violin ensemble too
