We are beyond thrilled to announce that our collaboration with Sleepy Puppy Press & Violin Music by Women is officially live!
Some time ago, Dr. Cora Cooper—the mastermind behind the Violin Music by Women anthology and a renowned violin and viola pedagogue—approached us with a vision to create second violin accompaniments for her collection. We were honored to accept, and we are excited to share that Volume 1 is now available in both print and digital formats!
You can purchase your copy here: www.sleepypuppypress.com
A massive thank you to Dr. Cooper for her incredible research and dedication; this anthology is a wonderful gift to the teaching community!
More info about the first volume of the anthology:
Volume 1: Beginning
This is the first of a four-volume set of pieces by women composers, past and present. The beginning volume is comprised of pieces corresponding to grade levels 1 and 2 in the ASTA String Syllabus, and features works that have been out-of-print or are newly composed. The intent of the anthology is to provide music written by women for violinists of all skill levels, contributing a collection of fun, pedagogically-sound recital pieces to the available teaching literature. The first volume contains pieces by Josephine Trott, Edith L. Winn, Gail Ridgway Brown and other violinist-teachers of her generation, as well as a commissioned suite by a young composer. It is all in first position (with some optional third position in the last piece). There's quite an assortment of styles for you to enjoy. Don't forget to read the composer biographies at the back of the violin book!
