We are so excited to share a brand-new arrangement for your violin and viola group lessons! Swallowtail Jig is proving to be the absolute highlight of our ensembles this term. Every single student is loving it, from our youngest beginners plucking open strings alongside the backing track, to our advanced players tackling the main tune. They can't wait to show off their hard work at the upcoming end-of-term concert!
As always, this piece has been specifically designed to accommodate multi-level ensembles, allowing our beginners to perform alongside advanced students. The downloads include:
- Part 5: Open strings pizz.
- Part 4: Open strings bowing
- Part 3: Simple left hand finger notes
- Part 2: Simple left hand finger notes with quick string changes
- Part 1: Main tune
- Part 1': Extended version of the main tune with a couple of variations
- We have also included the full score as well as an all-in-one layout containing multiple parts on a single sheet. We find this format incredibly motivating for students; it allows younger students to see what the advanced parts look like, naturally inspiring them to challenge themselves and learn the next level!
This arrangement works perfectly for a standalone violin ensemble, a viola ensemble, or a combined string group, as both parts are written in the same key.
Backing tracks options: option 1, option 2, option 3. We highly recommend using a speed-shifter app so students can practice and adapt the tempo to their individual needs.
Download links and previews are right below. We hope your students have as much fun with this as ours are having!
