Why are Vivaldi's Concertos always part of the daily life of students and teachers? Firstly, because they are beautiful pieces full of teaching points but also because children get super excited to play them, as they are grown-up pieces simple enough to be learned by young students.
Many years ago, I found that Zenon Feliński, Polish violinist and pedagogue, had arranged a simplified version in first postion of Vivaldi's Violin Concerto in G major RV299 for his students to learn Vivaldi's music from a very early stage. I liked this idea and this arrangement so much that I did my own take on that concerto and started arranging in the same way Vivaldi's more popular ones: A minor, G major and G minor, adding a 2nd violin accompaniment, as always. I've ended up with 8 Concertos that students can grow up with, starting as early as a Grade 2 (ABRSM) standard up to Grade 8 and beyond. They are all now available for Viola too!
The table below is only a reference of what level each concerto can be taught at:
Each concerto can be found separately in our Sheet Music Store and linked on the table above. You can also find them all in this Collection with the 8 Violin Concertos, and the Viola version here.
We hope you find this sequence of teaching repertoire useful and enjoy the videos and previews below!
